For a long time now we have been gravitating toward 1940s movies even though most of them were made before we were born. We like movies from this era because they tend to be more moral than many earlier and later movies. For one thing, there are consequences for actions. For another, successful, strong, and moral women are presented as the norm, especially during the
war years.

America is in a World War
The United States is at war with the rest of the world and our central government has barely mentioned it to us. We have no plan for winning the war, and even worse, we are losing battle after battle and things are going rapidly downhill. Communicating in Newspeak, the central government is behaving as if all’s well. It is not. Our nation has entered what pilots fear and are carefully trained to avoid: a graveyard spiral, only this one is economic.
At stake is our way of life, standard of living, our children’s futures and our national sovereignty. Instead of targeting our external enemies, an Orwellian Washington chooses to attack and diminish our own institutions and place the jackboot of central control on more and more of our throats every day.

Every word you say and every action you take is a reflection of how you understand the world you live in, your worldview. To understand America, you must have some appreciation for freedom. Our Constitution supposedly guarantees freedom of speech, religion, the press, assembly, and gun ownership. It implies the freedom to own property, pursue the occupation of your choice, and move freely about the nation. We think of freedom as a fundamental part of being American.

If you believe homosexuality is morally wrong — that God himself has condemned the behavior — then you’re a “homophobe.” You don’t have to be afraid of homosexuals. You don’t have to be afraid of being infected with AIDS. You’re a “homophobe” if you don’t condone gay sex.

I was brought up by a strong and wonderful single mother (as the result of a divorce). I understand that non-traditional families exist and can contain exemplary family members, however, the gold standard in family structure is a father and mother, who love each other, raising their own children. My mother would have heartily agreed.

The July 20 issue of TV Guide announced the Disney Channel’s plans to feature a lesbian couple on a 2014 episode of their children’s sitcom, GOOD LUCK CHARLIE. Once upon a time, I had the opportunity to teach in Salem, Mass., made famous centuries ago by its witch trials. Twenty years ago, the town government of Salem decided that they would trumpet witchcraft to promote tourism. Now, Salem celebrates Halloween for more than a month. Some famous churches have been converted into museums and amusements of horror and fright. Other churches have been converted into wiccan, Goth and necromancer places of worship. (The wiccans, by the way, do not like the necromancers because they need to kill to worship death.) The governor of Massachusetts has even named the state’s official witch.

Jesus Christ came to set the captives free. He is the chief cornerstone of our freedom.

Why?

Because each one of us has fallen short in many different ways that require judgment from God for the things we’ve done – lying, cheating, coveting, stealing, and so forth. And, as we know, deep in our hearts, the penalty is greater than we want to pay.

In films such as Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and Social Network, Hollywood is showing secular capitalism changing America’s motto to “In Greed We Trust.” In the summer of 2010, the US Congress passed a twenty-three-hundred-page act to regulate the financial sector. This act is an admission of the massive corruption in that sector of the economy. Wall Street’s corruption, however, has yet to become a part of Main Street. The traditional morality of the West, easily evident in small towns and villages is incomprehensible to most non-Western visitors.

There is a strong link between faith, the Christian faith in particular (in all of its various stripes), and doing good—including feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, and providing shelter. It has been true in the past, and it is true in the present.

This is a mandate that comes from Jesus Himself, and the impact of Christian charity on civilization has been enormous and positive. What the church does, it will continue to do, and should do without any assistance from the government. In some cases, it does this despite resistance from the government.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Many R-rated movies have sexually explicit material in them. What was once reserved for pornographic magazines is now on the huge silver screen. When viewers are repeatedly subjected to pornography or even sexually explicit R-rated movies, detrimental results can occur in a persons sexuality and marriage. The following shocking article demonstrates that homosexuality and pornography are close bed fellows. Pornography does more than degrade women. It can condition men to accept homosexual behaviors. Hence, with a surge in sexually explicit images in R-rated movies, this article is a sounding call for discerning viewing. This article should be for adult reading only. Dr. Judith Reisman is the author of the excellent and extremely important books: Kinsey, Sex & Fraud and Soft Porn Plays Hardball.

More and more countries are hearing the death knell of low birth rates.

We live in an age unique in human history. Per capita incomes have never been higher, lifespans have never been longer, and people are better fed and educated than ever before. At the same time, birth rates have fallen to historically low levels. In fact, they have fallen to levels so low that they will extinguish whole populations unless something is done.

Abandon all hope, you who seek Dante here.
By  Stephen W. Smith
Although skillful and clever throughout, Dan Brown’s Inferno is finally more of a gateway argument on behalf of population control than a simple thriller about Dante, Florence, or bioterror. Considered as a whole, the novel serves as something like a “gateway to the Posthuman age,” as the seeming villain of the novel says when describing the goal of his plot. While the gateways in Dante lead either to Hell and self-knowledge or to Mount Purgatorio and a climb to the stars, this novel leads the reader into a brave new world of genetic engineering and suggests that we embrace the new means required to “save the world,” even if we find them “uncomfortable.”

My friend Joseph Tson, from Romania, was one of the instrumental pastors in delivering Romania from Communism in the 1980s. He said that for years on Sunday in his Evangelical Church in Romania, he preached Jesus while the Romania equivalent of the KGB sat in the front row, monitoring his sermons. He always wondered why they did not care that he was preaching salvation in Jesus Christ, until he realized that the totalitarian Marxist-Leninist state had trespassed, encroached, and assumed those charitable and ecclesiastical activities that God had delegated to the governance, polity and duty of church and family, such as: education, welfare, care for the sick, care for the elderly, and marriage. So, when he started preaching the entire Gospel of the Kingdom of God, he was arrested immediately, was tortured and then had a miraculous release, because he didn’t care if he lived or died as long as he was proclaiming biblical truth and God’s commands which was Jesus Christ and his Kingdom come.

One of the great concerns in America today is the 22.1 percent unemployment rate among young black males. It’s nearly double the 11.5 percent unemployment rate for young white males. Cries go out in the media to spend more on education or to use more affirmative action, but the real change needed is in the media itself. Thus, it’s become abundantly clear that America’s poverty culture is fostered by the mass media.
Consider the impact of the media on young black males.

The recent box office mega-hit ‘The Hunger Games’ caused a groundswell of controversy with kid-on-kid violence being a central element of the plot. Many commentators and concerned citizens spoke out to voice their belief that the visual theatrical depiction of kid-on-kid violence would have a much more detrimental societal effect than simply reading about it.

While it is much too early to quantitatively prove or disprove those assertions, we are able to measure a broad range of reactions among ‘Hunger Games’ movie watchers and ‘Hunger Games’ book readers.

But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his own face in a mirror. For he looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But, the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but one who does good works – this person will be blessed in what he does.

Of course, nothing in the article pointed to any Bible verses to back up either side’s position, much less the biblical position outlined in this article.

There are many things to blame for this. We can blame the political parties whose sole criteria in endorsing a candidate is whether that candidate has the resources to win and whether that candidate will vote party line. Voting ones conscience, performing a due diligence and thinking for oneself are nowhere on the list of criteria when a political party endorses a candidate.
