President Obama has come out in favor of same sex marriage saying, “We are both practicing Christians, and obviously this position may be considered to put us at odds with the views of others, but, you know, when we think about our faith, the thing at the root that we think about is, not only Christ sacrificing himself on our behalf, but it’s also the Golden Rule, you know, treat others the way you would want to be treated. I think that’s what we try to impart to our kids, and that’s what motivates me as president, and I figure the most consistent I can be in being true to those precepts, the better I’ll be as a as a dad and a husband and hopefully the better I’ll be as president.”
Jesus sacrificed himself on our behalf so that we could be forgiven our sins and start afresh devoted to serving and obeying Him. He offers the world a choice between heaven and hell, not just in eternal life, but in the culture in which we live.
Those who serve and obey Him seek the will of God (righteousness). Those who reject Him want to set their own moral standards. Oddly, homosexuals, lesbians and peedophiles seem to want their moral standards to be seen as sanctioned by God in holy matrimony, marriage.
The Golden Rule should not be used as an excuse to condone sin. Jesus did not say to the woman caught in adultery, “Go ahead, do as you please, I won’t criticize your behavior if you don’t criticize mine.” He had compassion on her. He dispersed those who wished to stone her. He forgave her and said, “Go, and sin no more.”
God does not consider some behavior righteous and other behavior sinful on a whim. He knows what’s good for us and what’s bad for us. Righteousness increases prosperity, protects health, and fosters civility and happiness. Sin promotes poverty, disease, bitterness, anger and despair.
It’s not an act of love to condone sin. It’s an invitation to increase suffering. If every person who believes homosexuality is a sin were to be removed from the face of the earth, homosexuality would not become wholesome, healthy and righteous. The typical homosexual lifestyle involves behavior that any honest doctor or health inspector would admit is unhealthy from a purely scientific standpoint.
Over 600,000 Americans have died of AIDS, most of these were the result of homosexual sex. Christians didn’t cause this. It’s the natural result of unhealthy use of body parts. Just as obesity greatly increases the potential to get diabetes, sodomy greatly increases the potential to get hepatitis and AIDS.
If six Americans die from contaminated spinach there are Congressional hearings and laws passed to require safer food handling. If almost 600,000 Americans die from gay sex the president is encouraged to declare “gay pride month” and endorse homosexual marriage. Bypassing any religious concerns, this is illogical from a purely public health standpoint. Homosexual sex is unhealthy.
The Golden Rule would compel me to warn teenagers that smoking is bad for their health. The Golden Rule would lead me to caution youth about drinking and driving. The Golden Rule would also lead me to warn children that any sex outside of marriage, and all same-sex sex, is unhealthy, not just for the participants, but for society as a whole.
Individuals, and society as a whole, are paying dearly for the sexual revolution. Sin has consequences to one’s health, emotions and finances. Children pay a huge price for bad choices their parents make. The cost of sin to taxpayers is staggering.
Every person needs to be warned them that ALL sin, not just sodomy, leads away from heaven. It leads away from the health and prosperity God desires for mankind. Jesus Christ paid the price for our sin and offers all of us the opportunity to reject sin and serve God.
That’s love, not hatred.
