Abandon all hope, you who seek Dante here.
By Stephen W. Smith
Although skillful and clever throughout, Dan Brown’s Inferno is finally more of a gateway argument on behalf of population control than a simple thriller about Dante, Florence, or bioterror. Considered as a whole, the novel serves as something like a “gateway to the Posthuman age,” as the seeming villain of the novel says when describing the goal of his plot. While the gateways in Dante lead either to Hell and self-knowledge or to Mount Purgatorio and a climb to the stars, this novel leads the reader into a brave new world of genetic engineering and suggests that we embrace the new means required to “save the world,” even if we find them “uncomfortable.”

My friend Joseph Tson, from Romania, was one of the instrumental pastors in delivering Romania from Communism in the 1980s. He said that for years on Sunday in his Evangelical Church in Romania, he preached Jesus while the Romania equivalent of the KGB sat in the front row, monitoring his sermons. He always wondered why they did not care that he was preaching salvation in Jesus Christ, until he realized that the totalitarian Marxist-Leninist state had trespassed, encroached, and assumed those charitable and ecclesiastical activities that God had delegated to the governance, polity and duty of church and family, such as: education, welfare, care for the sick, care for the elderly, and marriage. So, when he started preaching the entire Gospel of the Kingdom of God, he was arrested immediately, was tortured and then had a miraculous release, because he didn’t care if he lived or died as long as he was proclaiming biblical truth and God’s commands which was Jesus Christ and his Kingdom come.

One of the great concerns in America today is the 22.1 percent unemployment rate among young black males. It’s nearly double the 11.5 percent unemployment rate for young white males. Cries go out in the media to spend more on education or to use more affirmative action, but the real change needed is in the media itself. Thus, it’s become abundantly clear that America’s poverty culture is fostered by the mass media.
Consider the impact of the media on young black males.

In the politically correct world of sports today, it is no surprise that the media went crazy in praising Jason Collins, the first gay professional athlete to go public. Collins is a 7 foot free agent center who is a 34 year old journeyman in the NBA. He only averages a few points a game and is used sparingly, but, today, he is a household name.

The Path to Freedom or The Path to Tyranny
By Dr. Ted Baehr, Publisher
There is a cacophony of voices in America today asking and answering the question: how do we fix our society? Clearly, the majority of people feel there’s a problem, but the real choices and the consequences of those paths has escaped them, so many are following the crowd down the road to perdition.
Exclusive: David d’Escoto asks why conservatives continue to turn kids over to the left. Most likely you’ve heard Einstein’s definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Nowhere is this more obvious today than with political and religious conservatives, the so-called right. What do I mean? Next month the right will send millions of their own children to public schools that are literally controlled by the left – meaning that it is only the liberals’ “values,” “morals” and curriculum that are taught in our government schools.

Terrorism is in the news again as seen in the tragic bombing at the finish line of the Boston Marathon on Monday. This man-made disaster gives a time to reflect on terrorism—as we continue to pray for the victims of the bombing.
By now, we have probably all heard about the infamous slide presented at a US Army Reserve Equal Opportunity training brief on religious extremism. They had a slide with the title “Religious Extremism.” (The slide is reproduced below).

Sometime during the last half-century, someone stole our culture. Just 50 years ago, in the 1950s, America was a great place. It was safe. It was decent. Children got good educations in the public schools. Even blue-collar fathers brought home middle-class incomes, so moms could stay home with the kids. Television shows reflected sound, traditional values.
This Friday, April 19, 2013 is the National Day of Silence which is sponsored by the homosexuality-affirming advocacy group, the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). GLSEN’s raison dêtre is to transform the moral and political views of our nation’s children through our publicly subsidized government schools. The Day of Silence is GLSEN’s central socio-political tool for achieving that purpose.
GLSEN urges students in high schools and middle schools to refuse to speak for an entire day—including during class—in order to draw attention to the plight of those students who are purportedly silenced and bullied because of their homosexuality or cross-dressing.
I am very much aware of the historical continuity extending over four centuries, during which the position of the Church of Scotland has been recognised in constitutional law and confirmed by successive Sovereigns. It sprang from the independence of mind and rigour of thought that have always been such powerful characteristics of the Scottish people, as I have occasion to know. [muted laughter] It has remained close to its roots and has inspired a commitment to service from all people.

The fight to save marriage, as current being waged, is largely pointless. It simply cannot be won on these terms. If defenders of marriage can let go of their own politically correct fixations and squarely face some harsh but incontrovertible facts, it is still possible to stop the impending destruction of marriage by the courts.
International Pro-Life Christian leader Dr. Ted Baehr, founder and publisher of The Culture Watch, today urged the Supreme Court, others in all levels of government and “all Americans” to end the “bigoted attacks and lies” against Christianity, the Bible, and “traditional Christian values” in public education, the mass media, and the legal system.

The recent box office mega-hit ‘The Hunger Games’ caused a groundswell of controversy with kid-on-kid violence being a central element of the plot. Many commentators and concerned citizens spoke out to voice their belief that the visual theatrical depiction of kid-on-kid violence would have a much more detrimental societal effect than simply reading about it.
While it is much too early to quantitatively prove or disprove those assertions, we are able to measure a broad range of reactions among ‘Hunger Games’ movie watchers and ‘Hunger Games’ book readers.

But be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man looking at his own face in a mirror. For he looks at himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But, the one who looks intently into the perfect law of freedom and perseveres in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but one who does good works – this person will be blessed in what he does.
James 1:22-25 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)
Many Christian leaders are trying to address the nature of the cultural collapse, which is bringing bondage to our future generations. We have forgotten history and common sense has been jettisoned. As we know, he who forgets history is doomed to repeat it.
Ruthless dictatorships are emerging, not just in the Middle East, but also in South America, Africa, and elsewhere. People are treating government as if it is God and forgetting the real God, who is the only King willing to die to save us from our sins and pay the penalty for our acts of commission and omission.

Because of the passage in 2010 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, more popularly known as Obamacare, our health care in the future could potentially change quite dramatically. A recent article in the Los Angeles Times about Catholic support for the two current vice presidential candidates, Joe Biden and Paul Ryan (who both claim to be Catholic), raised the question, Is God a pro-life conservative or is he a pro-abortion liberal? A side issue to that question is whether God favors a top-down social welfare state or a capitalist state of individual private effort and individual private charity, with no government handouts.
Of course, nothing in the article pointed to any Bible verses to back up either side’s position, much less the biblical position outlined in this article.

The following excerpt from an 1884 biography by Edward S. Huffington Post blogger, screenwriter and politically correct Kevin Miller has slandered renowned Christian evangelist Jerry Newcombe. In a radio appearance and in some articles, Newcombe opined that evildoers who massacre innocent people, like the killer who recently shot up a midnight showing of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, seem to have no fear of Hell.
Newcombe complained that people today have no fear of God or Hell because today’s society has rejected the Christian, biblical doctrine of Hell where Jesus and His apostles clearly say that those who reject Christ will have to pay for their evil sins by suffering eternal damnation in Hell.

with gullible and ignorant Westerners often waxing lyrical about its old growth jungles, exotic beaches and cheap, delicious food. Malaysia has not one but nine royal families, which are all Muslim. Members of the nine take turns in ascending to the throne of the Supreme Ruler of Malaysia–the King who reigns as Head of State for a five-year term. Additionally, Malaysia’s Prime Minister and Head of Government is now and has always been a Muslim. The same applies for virtually all levels of authority in the judiciary, military, police, and education. Alongside the civil courts are the shariah courts which rule supreme in Muslim-versus-Muslim disputes, are accountable to no civil court (including the country’s highest civil court and frequently rule on disputes involving non-Muslims as well.

Fox News has just published an article entitled “Does America Need Ayn Rand or Jesus?” As it was written by Onkar Ghate of the Ayn Rand Institute, you can imagine how he voted. After showing what can only be described as willful ignorance about historic Christianity, he concluded by writing: “Today we face starkly different choices….Don’t we need Ayn Rand?” Rand’s philosophy supposedly considers objectivity to be a cardinal virtue. Our country is not the nation it once was. We can no longer guarantee the American Dream, and we are not that beacon of hope to the rest of the world that we once were. The torch is dimming. We all know this.
There are many things to blame for this. We can blame the political parties whose sole criteria in endorsing a candidate is whether that candidate has the resources to win and whether that candidate will vote party line. Voting ones conscience, performing a due diligence and thinking for oneself are nowhere on the list of criteria when a political party endorses a candidate.

That’s the nagging thought in the minds of many conservatives as they survey the candidates who want to lead our country. We talk often about “electability” and “lesser of two evils” and “picking the best of the bunch.” And we almost believe it. But deep down inside, we want a strong American conservative leader. Secularists and the ACLU Strip First Amendment of Meaning
By Robert Knight
Christians, Orthodox Jews or anyone with traditional views of sex and marriage should be barred from state university counseling programs unless they agree to violate their beliefs. That’s the gist of the amicus brief the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) filed Feb. 11 in a case in which a Christian student is challenging her dismissal from a graduate counseling program at Eastern Michigan University in 2009.
Julea Ward had asked that another student take the case of a homosexual suffering from depression because, being a Christian, she could not affirm the person’s sexual relationships. Miss Ward was dismissed and filed a lawsuit charging unconstitutional viewpoint discrimination, religious discrimination and compelled speech. On July 26, 2010, a U.S. district court denied her claim, and she appealed to the 6th U.S Circuit Court of Appeals.
The ACLU’s brief to the appeals court contends that compelling someone to act against her beliefs does not violate her freedoms of religion or speech. The ACLU quotes the university’s response to Miss Ward saying she had a “conflict between your values that motivate your behavior and those behaviors expected of your profession.” In other words, you’re a conscientious Christian, so get lost.
