The Founding Fathers had an intention in mind when they created the government of our nation. However, that intention is under fierce attack. The new DVD which includes an interview with Dr. Ted Baehr from Movieguide(R) is a documentary which traces the ongoing march of Cultural Marxism.

The Signing of the Declaration of Independence

The Bible Is Historical Truth

By Alvin Schmidt, PhD

One uninformed liberal wrote, “One glance at the bible [sic] and you know there is no historical truth.”  On a scholarly basis, this statement is completely false, for hundreds of archaeological findings have corroborated historical facts cited in the Bible.  It was once argued (during the 1800s) that there was no historical evidence for the existence of people known as the Hittites, mentioned in the Old Testament.  Archaeology has long proven this false assumption wrong.

Here is another case: Sir William Ramsay (1851-1939), a non-Christian, embarked on archaeological research to show that many of Luke’s citations in the Book of Acts were wrong.  He had called the Bible “a book of fables.”  But as result of his diggings in Greece and Asia Minor, he discovered that Luke’s accounts were indeed factually correct.  His findings led him to become a Christian.

For years critics argued that there was no evidence that Pontius Pilate was a historical person.  He was the fiction of uninformed Christians.  But in 1961 archaeologists found a stone slab in Caesarea (where Pilate once lived as a Roman official) that had the words “Pontius Pilate, Prefect of Judea” etched on it.  Once again, the Bible was historically corroborated.  Critics no longer say that Pontius Pilate was the creation of biblical writers.  This stone slab in now in the British Museum in London.  I could cite many more examples to show that the Bible not only is a religious book but also a book of history.  Uneducated liberals would do well to read the scholarly book by Werner Keller, The Bible as History (1980).

The uninformed liberal cites Northrop Fry’s book The Great Code saying that “the idea of God (figure of a man) was conjured from outside the earth because humanity was to [sic] wrapped up in mother nature/earth. For the authors of the bible [sic] it was an attempt (successful) to change this ideology to give man the dominant role in society.”  This statement is simply a subjective opinion and nothing more.  It cannot be backed with any historical or scientific evidence.

The uninformed liberal also questions why God had to say “‘let there be light,’” and he wonders why God would say these words when there was no one to hear them.  This is really a silly point.  May God not speak to Himself?  Does the uninformed liberal want to deny God this privilege?  Moreover, does not every person speak to himself many times each day?  Linguists tell us that thinking is sublingual speech.  So when we think, we are in reality speaking to ourselves.  Maybe speaking to ourselves is another example that shows man was created in the image of God, that is, speaking to ourselves first began with God and then passed on to us.

The all too typical uninformed liberal states, “History has told us for the bible [sic] to take its control of society there was bloodshed and lots of it.”  This is a confused sentence.  Where, when, and how did the Bible ever take control of any society?   It is leaders who control society, not the Bible.  The Bible is a book, an inanimate object, and as such it cannot control anything.  It may influence people, but that is very different than saying the Bible is an entity that controls society.

Real American Church Attendance?

By D. Michael Lindsay

Pinpointing the number of Americans in weekly worship has vexed sociologists and pollsters for quite some time.  In 1993, an article by three prominent scholars appeared in the flagship sociology journal which suggested an argument similar to that of David Olson and Bob Smietana.  Using actual headcounts in worship instead of nationally-representative polls where people report how often they attend church, they suggested weekly worship attendance is closer to 20 percent of the adult population than the widely-reported 40 percent.

Since then, a number of experts have responded.  The debates have been intense, but in recent years, the following consensus has emerged:

Counting heads to estimate weekly worship service attendance is far less reliable than estimates based on survey responses.  Headcounts are more error-prone because there is more room for biases—from who does the counting, from when the headcounts are conducted, from who reports the headcounts, and from how exhaustive the headcounts are (such as whether midweek services are included).

In order for researchers to generalize headcounts to the entire adult population, they must be conducted as an exhaustive census or a representative sample.  Typically, headcounts are not statistically representative in terms of denomination, region of the country, or time of year.  Even weather patterns have to be included in the mix, which means headcounters have to devote incredible resources in order for their estimates to be accurate.  Most of the time, that does not happen.

The gold standard to assess whether survey estimates about church attendance are accurate is to see how well they predict the outcome of U.S. presidential elections, where we eventually learn the actual outcome.  Gallup and other survey firms use the same methods to predict presidential races as they use to estimate worship attendance.  And we know that people over-report voting as much as they over-report church attendance.  Hence, if Gallup estimates can successfully overcome that bias in predicting who will win the White House, we can be reasonably confident in their estimates about church attendance.  Gallup hasn’t missed a presidential race in sixty years, which is an impressive track record.

And yet, we know over-reported behavior is a problem.  Men over-report sexual adventures, and citizens claim to vote when they never actually show up on Election Day.  So also do Americans exaggerate church attendance.  Using a variety of cross-checks on reported behaviors, social scientists have concluded that Americans do over-report church attendance but not by much.  Instead of an over-reporting factor of 2 to 1 (which would make weekly church attendance around 20 percent), it is probably a margin of 1.3 to 1.  This makes weekly attendance figures somewhere between 30 and 35 percent of the U.S. adult population.

With these caveats in mind, social scientists continue to trust survey estimates of church attendance.  Pastors and church leaders should do the same.

The Alarms Are Still Going Off

By Dr. Ted Baehr, Publisher of MOVIEGUIDE®

When my four children were young, they went through the usual phases of raising ants, then hamsters, then gerbils, then cats and dogs — together. Often disasters would occur. The ant farm would break, and the gerbils and hamsters would escape into the pipes. Sometimes, the children would exercise a great deal of effort to direct a gerbil or a hamster out of a floorboard, or some other difficult spot. Pipes would be banged. Floors would be hit. Usually, the gerbil never got the point and days later an unpleasant smell would emerge from the pipe or floorboard.

One friend of mine in a fraternity at Dartmouth College over forty years ago had a pet boa constrictor. The boa eventually got stuck in the pipes. The boa’s reaction to the broomstick and other items was to attack them or any hand that tried to grab it. Soon, the smell was so bad that the fraternity was reprimanded and had to spend a considerable sum of money to get the dead boa removed.

Thus, although their life depended on it, the boa constrictor, the gerbil and the hamsters couldn’t figure out why this gigantic person was banging, knocking and interfering.

Right now, He who is beyond and above our finite mortal senses is trying to get our attention. When we enact laws that are self-destructive, indulge in activities that are leading us into the edge of the abyss, the concerned, beneficent Creator sends warnings such as volcanoes, hurricanes, floods, fires, and earthquakes, as well as prophets and His own Son to save us from stewing in the juice of our own greedy self-centeredness.

Our reaction has been to ignore the warning alarms as well as anyone who heard from Him and spoke in His name. We have even gone as far in the past as to stone His prophets and kill His Son, whom He quickly resurrected. Like the boa constrictor our reaction has been self-defeating in the extreme, especially considering that all our beneficent Creator wanted to do is rescue us, because He loves us.

In the Book of Exodus, as well as in the movie version of THE TEN COMMANDMENTS starring Charlton Heston as Moses and Yul Brynner as Pharaoh, Pharaoh refuses to let God’s people go, even when faced with numerous plagues and natural disasters sent as warnings by God. Only when Pharaoh’s first-born son dies because of Pharaoh’s hard headedness does Pharaoh relent and allow the Jews to leave Egypt. Even, then, however, he changes his mind and pursues the Jews with his army, to kill them all.

So, the Lord issues one more warning alarm. After parting the Red Sea for the Jews to cross safely into Sinai, the Egyptian army pursues in vain and drowns in the re-flowing waters of that sea. The Jews listened to what God said, but Pharaoh and his soldiers did not. And, they paid the penalty for their rebellion!

The United States of America has become like Pharaoh in Exodus. Despite what God clearly says in His Word, America is ignoring God’s warning signs of impending disaster, to continue in evil sins like sexual perversion, rampant promiscuity and their cruel, inevitable consequence - abortion, the torturous killing of an innocent unborn child.

God will never give up on us. As we get stuck in the self-destructive behavior of our own pride, lust and greed, His alarms will continue to go off and His warnings will intensify. The question is whether our finite brains can grasp the meaning of His warning alarms? Or, like Pharaoh, will we drown in our self-destructive, God denying behavior?

Federal Judge Strikes Down National Day of Prayer

Federal judge Barbara B. Crabb in Wisconsin has ruled ruled that the National Day of Prayer is unconstitutional.

Crabb says that the 1952 and 1988 laws establishing the National Day of Prayer violate the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion.”

Abe Lincoln prays for the nation

She ruled that such an involvement in prayer must serve a significant “secular function,” whatever THAT means!

In her ruling, Crabb cites an objection to prayer by Founding Father John Jay at the Constitutional Congress in 1774, but fails to note that Jay, a future Chief Justice, later changed his mind about the propriety of prayer in government (see Jay’s proclamation on March 20, 1779 in the Continental Congress for a Day of Fasting, available on this Internet page. In fact, Jay even called the United States a “Christian nation” and was one of the signers of the 1783 Treaty of Paris declaring America’s independence, which begins with the words “In the name of the most holy and undivided Trinity”

Jay Sekulow, chief counsel of the American Center for Law and Justice, expects the Seventh Circuit to reverse Judge Crabb’s ruling, but the fact remains that this idiotic ruling by this ignorant judge shows the low level of judicial, constitutional and historical knowledge and intelligence in America’s legal system and on America’s courts.

Judge Crabb should be impeached for distorting and violating the U.S. Constitution and for spreading historical lies and distortions in her misguided, false and abhorrent ruling.

At best, she is horribly misinformed. At worst, she is a liar!

The National Day of Prayer does not promote a particular Christian sect, or a particular belief about the Bible or prayer. And, the First Amendment does not establish a separation between the Bible and the State, much less a separation between the Religion of Christian Theism or even Christian Trinitarianism and the State.

Suffocating the People of God

By Dr. Ted Baehr with Dr. Tom Snyder

Several people in the Democratic-Socialist power structure have decided that the only way they can convert America into a totalitarian gulag is to destroy the Church, the People of God. And, too many of the sheeple have fallen for their nefarious plans.

As Sharon Sebastian ( notes in her article “Hijacking the Faith:  The Obama Way”:

“Years ago, the head of a major Gay rights organization told Pacifica radio that he thought Bill Clinton could deliver what his group wanted, but when a sitting president failed, he suggested he now understands that you ‘have to go after the churches.’ That is a strategy that the Obama administration appears to have also adopted. The hijacking has been effectively under the radar for years and now presents itself in the form of ‘social justice.’ Rev. Wallis, a self-proclaimed Progressive, who has reportedly supported many communist causes, has renamed ‘social justice’ to ‘Biblical justice.’ With that renaming or change in terminology comes a full-out assault on the meaning of Biblical scripture.”

One of the great Christian heroes responsible for the fall of Communism in Romania was Pastor Joseph Tson. As a Baptist pastor, he preached salvation messages every week while the Romanian secret service sat in the front pew and did nothing. Eventually, he realized, however, that the Gospel starts at Genesis and ends with Revelation. He discovered that the church, the People of God, and not the state, was responsible for the homeless, the needy, the prisoners, the widows, and the orphans.

Thus, when Pastor Tson started preaching that the state was intruding on areas where the church had responsibility, the Communist government arrested him. After persecuting and torturing him, they could not break his faith in Jesus Christ, but he broke their faith in Communism, and Communism fell in Romania.

Several years ago, NPR was interviewing a Native American leader about the high alcohol and drug use and high suicide rate among Native American men, something that had skyrocketed after President Lyndon Johnson’s socialist Great Society Program. The leader responded, “Don’t you know, Uncle Sam cuckolded our wives.” The NPR interviewer was perplexed, so the leader continued, “The US government took our wives. They provide for all their needs. They feed them. They give them jobs. They put their children in government schools. They built community centers for them to hang out with other women. So, they took them from the husbands, and the husbands had nothing to do but escape in a bottle or die.”

An African American told me the same thing on a flight to Amsterdam. He was in charge of the unwed mother program for the Bronx. I mentioned that the young girls needed more education. He countered that these were the smartest girls. “If they get pregnant at 13-years-old, they get to move out of their crowded family apartment and into their own government provided housing. They get money for their child. They get complete care for their child. They get job training with other young women. They get a place to hang out and have fun. These are the smartest girls.”

Too many churches and too many Christians in the United States have allowed the church and the institution of the Family, to be suffocated to death by socialism. We have allowed the Government schools to brain wash out children. We have allowed the Government to cuckold our young women. We have allowed the Government to make our young men useless and then drug them with specious treatment programs. We have moved onto the Government plantation.

This has happened time and again in history. It has failed time and again. It has resulted in the killing fields of Cuba, China, Russia, Romania, etc.

Why? Because we have replaced God with government, but the government is merely a group of underperforming envious fools who think that they know more than they do and who believe that they should control your life completely.

If we want to see revival, reformation and renewal, churches and their members have to take back the Gospel and live it out by taking responsibility by God’s grace in the family, the church and the individual from the state for the children, the wives, the husbands, the families, the widows, the needy, the poor, the prisoners, and the orphans. The state has no business whatsoever being involved in performing this duty. And, anyone who says otherwise is promoting Statism, Communism, or National Socialism, i.e. Nazi-Fascism.

A Tale of Two Countries

By Dr. Ted Baehr, Publisher of MOVIEGUIDE®

More than 55 years ago in Argentina, my wife’s father, Dr. Rudolfo Milani, had a flourishing medical practice and a prestigious position in the Argentine medical community.

Juan Peron, who had studied and served under Mussolini, had been implementing national socialism along the Mussolini model for several years in Argentina. That meant he was trying to control every thing and every body. In the process, Argentina went from being one of the most prosperous countries in the world with a large gold reserve and very little poverty, to being one of the most impoverished, bankrupt countries in South America.

Wisely, Dr. Milani, as the government control of healthcare increased, left the country. He came to the United States because it was free and brought his four children with him and all the money he could carry in his coat. He had to start at the bottom of the medical community in Houston and do his internship all over again. He succeeded and became a top anesthesiologist at one of the best hospitals in the country. Inspired by him, his grandson became a doctor.

Dr. Milani retired from practice when the government meddling in America’s health insurance system began to drive the rates to extraordinary levels. But, our generation of baby boomers forgot the price that people paid to be free and the benefits and prosperity it produced. So, his grandson’s parents voted for the Democratic Party’s plan of national socialism in 2008. Now, Dr. Milani’s grandson faces the same controls that will destroy his future that his grandfather faced in Argentina when he left! The grandson calls the government control of healthcare “tragic.”

My wife Lili has been on chemotherapy for 15 years. Under the new system passed on a party-line vote in the United States Congress, she now will be restricted in the amount of care she receives. And, fools (because the man who doesn’t believe or trust in God is a fool) will be controlling her healthcare – even though they never studied medicine and have no understanding of how to treat her very rare disease.

Argentina used to be an exporter of beef. Now, it imports beef from Brazil and Chile. It used to be prosperous. But now, now it’s impoverished. It used to have very low crime. Now, it has very high crime, and older people do not even dare to go out of their houses.

Juan Peron made off with the wealth of Argentina and put it in his accounts in Switzerland. The fools in the United States Congress who don’t believe in God have made off with America’s wealth, to butter their own bread at our expense. But, the bigger fools are those who voted to close the door on liberty, justice, freedom, and prosperity.

Scriptural Christianity

If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?  (Psalms 11:3)

By Neil Markva, Attorney

With state and federal governments now tagging Bible-believing Christians as “extremists” whom citizens must be wary, it’s time to examine the Biblical basis of Christianity and its role in our nation’s Christian heritage.  For America has fallen from the pinnacle of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” marked as God-given unalienable rights in our founding document, the Declaration of Independence, to the point of imposed  government’s complete control of our lives.

In 1828, Noah Webster published the American Dictionary of the English Language after 28 years of compiling it.  The introduction of its 1967 reproduction states that the dictionary “was produced during the years when the American home, church and school were established upon a Biblical and a patriotic basis.”  Webster is quoted as saying:

In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government, ought to be instructed…. no truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people….

Webster echoes the words of Jesus in His great commission to his disciples when He said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”  He announces His authority in heaven as the Son of God and on earth as the Son of Man created with dominion over the earth and everything in it. Stupid Is as Stupid Does

Christians and Conservatives Are Not the Ones Being Really Stupid and Ignorant

By Dr. Tom Snyder with Dr. Ted Baehr

Still basking in the joy of Resurrection Day (or “Easter” to those of you who don’t know that the Vicarious Atonement, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ is the real reason for the current holy season), it strikes us how often atheists, alleged skeptics, liberals, leftists, fascists, Neo-Marxists, and other pseudo-intellectual elitists like to malign Christians and conservatives for being stupid and ignorant.

One of the most common, but dishonest and disingenuous, ploys of these Anti-Christian bigots is to take a fringe group (like the tiny militia members the FBI arrested in late March) and lay the blame at the feet of Christianity or conservatives.

It’s important to note, however, that these kinds of malicious, lamebrain labels are coming from people who believe that Mozart and Moses descended from monkeys and that increasing taxes and spending and re-distributing wealth will create jobs and prosperity in the private sector and not just the government.

Of course, we can all agree that Christians and conservatives, not to mention Republicans, are not completely immune from stupidity and ignorance. Or even prejudice and bigotry.

But, thousands of years of history, experience, research, objective science, and rational thought clearly demonstrate that Christian and conservative thinkers are among the most intelligent, insightful, and reliable thinkers in history.

Especially when compared to what passes for “intelligent” thought among today’s atheists, evolution “scientists,” skeptics, and leftists.

Come to the Tea Party

Tea Party Crowd

Millions Gather for the Tea Party

There’s a few days on the calendar that stand out: December 25, July 4, and . . . April 15. Tax day for many of us means a last minute scramble for receipts, attempting to decipher the tax code and trying to remember where we put our calculator.

This year, however, for Dr. Ted Baehr and others, April 15 will be a day to throw a Tea Party. Rallies across the country will be held on “Tax Day.”

The Tea Party movement is a grassroots group of patriotic Americans who oppose the oppressive taxation being levied against us.

Dr. Baehr says, “I encourage everyone to try to find a Tea Party rally in your local area. And if you’re near us here at Movieguide®, join us at the Ventura County rally.

Ted Baehr will be one of the featured speakers at the Ventura Tea Party rally.

You can find a rally in your area by clicking here.
